Beaches

Cepilho
Praia do Cepilho is the first beach you encounter when arriving at the village of Trindade. It offers an exceptional view of the area with large and beautiful rocks where the sea flows. Cepilho has a horseshoe shape and a wide strip of fine white sand. This beach deviates slightly from the more touristy route of Trindade Village. Therefore, it tends to be quieter and less crowded. Praia do Cepilho, also known as Cepilhão, is the surfing beach in Trindade due to its large waves.
Praia de Fora
The Praia de Fora is the largest beach in Trindade, extending throughout the village. From there, it's possible to walk along the sand to Cepilho Beach. Facing the open sea, its waters can vary between calmness, with few waves, and fierceness on other days, becoming dangerous. It is famous for its incredibly beautiful sunrise. As you walk towards the other end of the beach, it changes its name and becomes known as Ranchos Beach.
Praia do Meio
The Praia do Meio, the most photographed in Trindade, enchants with its beauty. Belonging to the Serra da Bocaina National Park, it features two small bays separated by a scalable rock formation, offering views of turtles and sunset over the ocean, highlighting the Cabeça do Índio and the Praia do Cachadaço. It is from there that the trail to Praia do Cachadaço and its natural pools begins, completing the unique experience of this beach.
Praia Dos RAnchos
The Praia dos Ranchos is the continuation of Praia de Fora, located at its right corner. During the day, bars and restaurants offer live music, which can be heard from the beach. During the high season, some bars organize concerts and forró nights. In this corner, the sea is calmer and sheltered, with few waves, giving it a pool-like aspect. It's from there that boatmen take tourists to the Piscina do Cachadaço and other beaches in the region.
Praia do Cachadaço
The "Praia do Cachadaço", surrounded by mountains covered in lush Atlantic forest, is isolated from the rest of Trindade, accessible only by trail or boat. Located in the Serra da Bocaina National Park, between Praia do Meio and the natural pools, it is accessed via a trail from Praia do Meio, crossing over the hill that separates them. The sea can be rough, with dangerous rips and currents, requiring caution when entering the water. Depending on the conditions, surfing is possible.
Piscina Natural do Cachadaço
The Natural Pool of Cachadaço, located in the protected area of the Serra da Bocaina National Park, is a gem formed by seawater sheltered by immense volcanic rocks. In this charming spot, visitors have the opportunity to swim while contemplating the lush forest and exploring marine life with snorkel and mask. Access to the pools is via a 30-minute trail. During the high season, it is recommended to visit the site early in the morning. In the low season, it is possible to better appreciate nature and enjoy more freedom while swimming.
Praia Brava
Praia Brava, the most secluded and deserted beach in Trindade, is accessible via a trail, with the option to descend either by the waterfall or directly through the forest. Surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, its challenging access, the presence of a nearby waterfall, the absence of bars and inhabitants, and its distance make it a highly appreciated spot for trail lovers and tranquility seekers. On calm days, it's excellent for snorkeling, while on rough days, it offers good waves for surfing. Swimmers should be mindful of the currents. If you choose to spend the day there, bring food and drinks, and take your trash back to preserve the beauty of the place.

TRAILS

trails

Pedra que engole
The "Pedra que Engole" trail is easy and accessible to all, but requires caution especially after heavy rains. The trail starts from Praia do Meio, following the river and ascending through the forest. With an average duration of twenty minutes, it offers several points of interest: the "Poço Dois Paredões" (Two Walls Well), the "Cachoeira do Escorrega" (Slide Waterfall), the "Poço Fundo" (Deep Pool), and the "Pedra que Engole" (Swallow Rock).
Natural Pool
The trail leading to the natural pools takes an average of twenty to thirty minutes from the center of Trindade. This trail is unique because it is located within the Serra da Bocaina National Park and alternates between passages through the forest and along the beaches. Upon reaching Praia do Meio, you need to continue to the end, cross the river to reach the trail that leads to Praia do Cachadaço. After walking along this beach to the end, you need to enter the forest to follow the trail for about twenty minutes and finally reach the natural pools.
Praia Brava
The trail to Praia Brava is a short but majestic hike through the Atlantic Forest. The beginning of the trail is well-marked by the presence of a parking lot and a sign. Coming from Trindade, access is by van to the parking lot or on foot via the beaches and the road. The trail is steep, with a medium level of difficulty, and takes about 20 minutes downhill to the beach. The return hike is more strenuous. After rain, the trail can become slippery, requiring extra caution. Midway through the trail, there is a fork. The left path leads to the waterfall, while the right descends directly to the beach.
Cabeça do índio
Cabeça do Índio (Indian Head) is a beautiful cliff which resemble the profile of a native man. It sits to the far west of Trindade and marks the boundary between the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. This large rocky formation can be reached by hiking approximately one hour past the Natural Swimming Pools. This trail offers a stunning view overlooking the ocean and the four main beaches of Trindade. This hike should not be attempted without a guide due to dense forest that can block the passage.

People enter through the passage on top of the rock and exit underneath, where there is a hidden cave where you can stop and breathe. At the exit of the rock, the waterfall of Poço Fundo is formed (swipe to the side to discover). Access is via the trail of the same name, learn more in the "trails".
Cachoeira da Brava
Praia Brava is the most quiet, uninhabited and isolated beach of Trindade, all surrounded by rainforest. It can only be reached by hiking down a small, steep and often muddy trail, about ten minutes outside of town. You are likely to have the beach to yourself. The Praia Brava Waterfall is the wildest waterfall in Trindade, located in the heart of the Atlantic Forest. Accessible via the trail of the same name, it is located near the beach, about a fifteen-minute walk from the beginning of the trail. It offers beautiful falls of crystal-clear and refreshing waters. Really special place with the most lovely owners! Such a nice spot to reset, relax & be immersed in the beautiful Trindade jungle. Definitely recommend staying here but the hostel is slightly further away than Google Maps says, you have to pay for linen & it’s cash only with no ATMs in town.

The owner is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He was very helpful in giving useful tips on the area and just made you feel at ease. The place is beautiful and you definitely feel like you're in the rainforest. A stream runs nearby which is super soothing. If you are staying in Trinidade, this is the spot to stay!
